Leandro Trossard has completed the paperwork on his Besiktas exit, formally clearing Arsenal’s path to accelerate a move for former Norwich City winger Christos Tzolis.
According to Arsenal’s official confirmation, terms have been agreed with the Turkish club worth £15.3m plus £1.7m in add-ons, with Trossard travelling to Istanbul this week to undergo a medical and finalise a three-year contract, with the option of a further year, that will see him take the number 19 shirt. The exit removes Trossard from Mikel Arteta’s wide options just as sporting director Andrea Berta turns his attention to Tzolis, the Greece international who left Carrow Road for Club Brugge in 2024.
Andrea Berta Eyes Record Greek Transfer
BBC Sport reports that Berta is now working to accelerate a deal worth around £30m-£35m for Tzolis, a fee that would make the 24-year-old the most expensive Greek player in history. Fabrizio Romano has separately reported that Arsenal are in regular contact with Tzolis’s camp and that the winger wants the move, after previously sending assistant recruitment chief Maurizio Micheli to watch him in person for Greece.
Tzolis made 27 appearances for Norwich across three seasons following his roughly £10m move from PAOK in 2021, before departing for Brugge in the summer of 2024. He has since developed into one of Belgian football’s most productive wide players, contributing 32 goals and 44 assists across 109 appearances over the last two seasons as Brugge won a domestic double.
Should the move go through, it would hand Carrow Road’s faithful a rare distinction: a player once let go by the Canaries becoming, by fee, the most valuable footballer his country has produced. Arsenal’s parallel interest in Morgan Rogers is understood to be separate and is not expected to affect any Tzolis timeline.
