Trossard’s Besiktas Exit Confirmed As Arsenal Accelerate Ex-Norwich Winger Tzolis Chase

Arsenal have officially confirmed Leandro Trossard’s £17m departure to Besiktas, immediately triggering an accelerated push for Club Brugge winger and former Norwich City favourite Christos Tzolis.

According to a fresh update from Sky Sports, the Premier League champions have confirmed Trossard’s exit in a deal worth £17m, made up of an initial £15.3m plus £1.7m in add-ons, with the Belgian due in Istanbul on Tuesday evening to complete his switch. With that departure now signed off, Fabrizio Romano reports Arsenal will “immediately accelerate” their search for a new wide forward, with Tzolis among the names Andrea Berta’s recruitment team have kept in regular contact with over the summer.

Andrea Berta ‘Actively Working’ On Record Greek Deal

BBC Sport reports that Arsenal’s sporting director is “actively working” to get a deal for the 24-year-old over the line, with the fee expected to land in the region of £34-35m — a figure that would make Tzolis the most expensive Greek player in history.

Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola have also been mentioned as alternatives for Arsenal’s left-wing rebuild, but Romano’s reporting suggests Tzolis’ camp has told rival suitors they are “waiting for Arsenal” — a stance that will please supporters in Norfolk still tracking the Greek international’s rapid rise since leaving Carrow Road.

Tzolis spent three years on Norwich’s books after signing from PAOK in 2021, including a loan spell at Twente, before a permanent move to Fortuna Düsseldorf preceded his switch to Club Brugge in 2024. He has since scored 32 goals in 109 appearances for the Belgian side, form that has made him one of the most sought-after wingers in Europe this summer.

No formal bid has yet been lodged with Club Brugge, but Arsenal’s move for Tzolis looks set to gather pace now Trossard’s exit is confirmed.
