Teemu Pukki has given Norwich City supporters a sharp reminder of how quickly the mood around Carrow Road has changed under Philippe Clement.
Football League World reported that the former Canaries striker admitted he feared Norwich were sliding towards League One before Clement’s arrival, while also highlighting his belief that City now have stronger attacking options to work with.
That lands because Pukki is not an outside voice trying to make a cheap point. He knows what a proper Norwich forward line looks and feels like, having been central to some of the best modern attacking football seen at Carrow Road.
Pukki’s view should carry weight
Norwich do not need to pretend last season was comfortable. The climb under Clement was impressive precisely because the starting point was so bleak, and Pukki’s honesty captures the fear many supporters felt before results and performances began to turn.
The more interesting part is the striker angle. City have moved into a different era now, with Mohamed Toure, Josh Sargent and other attacking pieces carrying the responsibility Pukki once shouldered almost alone. ReadNorwich has already looked at why Mohamed Toure’s World Cup test matters, and Pukki’s comments add another layer to that conversation.
There is affection in this story, but also a challenge. If a club legend can see the improvement, Norwich have to treat that as encouragement rather than comfort.
Clement’s job now is to turn that restored belief into something more durable. Pukki helped set the attacking standard at Norwich. The next version of this team has to prove it can live up to it.
