  • Norwich City’s defence and midfield have already been rated.
  • It was a season of struggle in the wide areas.
  • How each of Norwich’s wingers performed in 2025/26.

We have reached the penultimate edition of this set of seasonal ratings after going through the goalkeepers, full-backs, centre-backs, central midfielders, and attacking midfielders.

It is now the wingers who are being evaluated based on their performances for Norwich City in the 2025/26 campaign.

Philippe Clement did not get much luck in the wide areas throughout the season, and it is an area of importance heading into the summer transfer window.

Errol Mundle-Smith: 6

Errol Mundle-Smith made 15 appearances and played 264 minutes in all competitions in his breakthrough season at senior level.

The versatile forward, who played out wide and as a striker, did not grab himself a goal or an assist, but he showed flashes of his potential in a few eye-catching cameos off the bench.

There is far more to come from the 20-year-old talent, but a loan move could be the next step for him this summer.

Tony Springett: 5

It was a great story when Tony Springett came back from a long-term back injury to become a rotation player at the start of Clement’s reign.

You could never fault his work rate or his passion on the pitch, but the Irish forward looked below the standard required in the Championship.

He started seven of his 15 appearances in the league and did not add a goal or an assist to his Norwich tally, although the winger did score against Walsall in the FA Cup.

Springett will officially leave the club at the end of June and every Norwich supporter should wish him the best in his next adventure, as his passion for the Canaries cannot be faulted.

Amankwah Forson: 6

For the second season running, Amankwah Forson feels like a tough player to rate because he rarely played, had some anonymous performance, but he also popped up with some big moments.

The former Salzburg forward provided a key assist for Mo Toure against Derby and scored goals in wins over Sheffield United and QPR at Carrow Road.

Two goals, one penalty won, and one assist in seven starts as a right winger is hardly a poor return, but he simply was not available week-in-week-out.

Due to his lack of availability since joining the Canaries, it will be interesting to see whether or not he moves on in the summer window.

Papa Amadou Diallo: 6.5

Papa Amadou Diallo is possibly the most frustrating injury issue that Norwich had throughout the season, because his quality was there for all to see when fit.

The Senegal international created four ‘big chances’ and assisted four goals in just 11 appearances as a left winger for the Canaries.

Diallo ended the campaign with the second-most assists in the squad in all competitions, only behind Anis Ben Slimane’s six, despite only playing in 11 of the 52 games.

If Norwich can keep him fit for most of next season, Clement will have a serious creative talent on his hands on the left flank.

Matej Jurasek: 6

Matej Jurasek is in the same camp as Forson. He showed flashes of quality, including a brilliant assist for Josh Sargent away at QPR, but he was not available enough.

The Czechia international made 19 appearances in all competitions and produced one goal and two assists, with his goal coming in the aforementioned cup win over Walsall.

Both of his assists, for Sargent against QPR and Jack Stacey against Wrexham, were phenomenal bits of wing play, but he did not do produce consistently enough.

There is potential in Jurasek and Clement is believed to be a fan of the forward, so it is down to all parties involved to get him on the pitch more regularly next season.

Liam Gibbs: 7

It was hard to know where to put Liam Gibbs, but he made more starts as a winger on the right or left than in any other position.

His rating is more of a reflection on his overall performances across the multitude of positions he played, rather than just his displays as a winger, where he struggled at times.

Every squad needs a player like Gibbs who can step in and play multiple roles, which he did by playing at right-back, left-back, central midfield, attacking midfield, right midfield, and left midfield.

Ali Ahmed: 7.5

Ali Ahmed had a slow end to the season, with no goals or assists in the last six games, but he provided a much-needed spark at the top end of the pitch after his January move.

The Canada international scored four goals, created four ‘big chances’, and provided three assists in 19 appearances in the league, with all seven of his goal contributions coming in his first 13 matches.

Ahmed offered natural width and pace that Norwich had lacked on the left wing for the first part of Clement’s reign due to Diallo’s injury issues, and added end product to his play.

The Canadian international played a pivotal role in the team’s resurgence and will, hopefully, kick on again next term.

Oscar Schwartau: 7.5

Finally, the player with the most minutes played as a winger for Norwich in the 2025/26 campaign was Oscar Schwartau, with 38 appearances and 2,329 minutes.

The Dane was the well-deserving winner of the club’s Young Player of the Season award, thanks to his impressive performances as both a winger and as a number ten.

Schwartau scored four goals from 3.81 xG, including a goal at Portman Road, after only scoring one goal in 40 games in his first year at the club.

The versatile youngster was also let down by his teammates because he created nine ‘big chances‘ and racked up 3.19 xG and was only rewarded with two assists, due to poor finishing from others.

If Ben Knapper and Clement can add some more goalscoring quality around him in the summer, Schwartau’s creativity could become even more valuable next term.
