- Norwich City changed formation when they changed managers this season.
- The second half of the campaign was all about the number tens.
- How each of Norwich’s attacking midfielders performed in 2025/26.
Since the 2025/26 campaign came to a close, Read Norwich have rated the goalkeepers, centre-backs, full-backs, and central midfielders on their performances this season.
The next position under the microscope is an interesting one, because it was a role that changed a lot when Liam Manning was replaced by Philippe Clement.
Up next is the attacking midfielders…
Emi Marcondes: 5
Emi Marcondes played the fewest minutes of all of Norwich’s number tens in the 2025/26 campaign, playing 738 minutes across 17 games.
Supporters will remember his failure to chase down Preston’s player in the build-up to their late equaliser at Deepdale, but it is also worth remembering that he assisted Jovon Makama’s goal in that 1-1 draw.
Marcondes registered a goal and two assists in Clement’s first seven games in charge, providing a lift to the team early on under the Belgian.
However, he only made one appearance in the second half of the season and will depart when his contract expires at the end of June.
Ante Crnac: 4
Ante Crnac made 12 appearances, all of which came under Manning, and played 47 minutes more than Marcondes before sustaining an ACL injury against Derby.
The Croatian typically played as one of the two number tens behind Josh Sargent in Manning’s 3-4-2-1 system, but it did not get the best out of him.
Crnac ended the season with zero goals and zero assists in his 12 outings, which is a dismal return for an attacking player.
However, he produced seven goals and nine ‘big chances’ created as a right winger or centre-forward under Johannes Hoff Thorup and it will be interesting to see where Clement sees him fitting in next season.
Paris Maghoma: 7.5
Given that he joined after ten months without playing a competitive game, Paris Maghoma made a brilliant impact after his January move from Brentford.
The 25-year-old magician scored one goal, created five ‘big chances’, and registered three assists in eight Championship starts, whilst he also scored against West Brom in the FA Cup.
Maghoma is a joy to watch when he is in full flow, moving with the ball and gliding past defenders with ease, but the next step for him is to add more consistency to his play in front of goal.
If the former Brentford ace can start to score goals on a regular basis, he will be one of the best players in the Championship next season.
Anis Ben Slimane: 7.5
Rounding off the attacking midfielder ratings, Anis Ben Slimane comes in with the same rating as Maghoma, as both players ended the season rotating in the position.
Slimane did not make a single appearance in the Championship for Manning, who viewed him as a central midfield option, but Clement saw his potential as a number ten.
The Tunisia international ended up playing 26 times and played 1,372 minutes in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing six assists.
Everyone loves a comeback story and to watch Slimane go from outcast under Manning to star under Clement was brilliant to watch.
The former Sheffield United man has certainly shown that he has what it takes to be a very useful squad player for the Belgian moving forward.
