  • Norwich City confirm their place in the 2026/27 Championship line-up.
  • A tale of two penalties at Carrow Road.
  • Ratings each of Norwich’s players from their 1-1 draw with Swansea.

Norwich City’s season was officially ended when they failed to find a winning goal in stoppage time against Swansea City on Saturday.

It was only a slim chance that the Canaries could go on to finish in the play-offs, though, so there is no shame in failing to reach the top six.

Kenny McLean‘s penalty cancelled out Zan Vipotnik’s spot kick to at least avoid a defeat in the final Carrow Road game of the campaign.

The defence

Vladan Kovacevic: 5

Cannot be blamed for the goal and only had one other save to make. Only scores a five because of a wayward pass that almost cost a goal in the first half.

Jack Stacey: 5

Norwich got into plenty of promising crossing positions in the opening 45 minutes and failed to put quality deliveries into the box.

Jack Stacey did not complete any of his attempted crosses in the game and turned down a chance to send Amankwah Forson through late on to pass back to Harry Darling.

Harry Darling: 6

There was a lot to like and dislike about Darling’s performance. Some great defensive work, winning 100% of his duels, but too many times his pass was not good enough to spark an attack.

Jose Cordoba: 6

The headline will be that Jose Cordoba gave away the penalty, of course, but his performance outside of that moment was excellent.

Vipotnik, the league’s leading scorer, did not have a single shot from open play as Norwich’s centre-back eased him out of the way every time bar one.

Kellen Fisher: 6

Once again playing out of position, Kellen Fisher did a solid enough job. Norwich desperately need to sign a reliable left-footed left-back this summer.

The midfield

Pelle Mattsson: 7

Pelle Mattsson was one of the few players on the pitch who looked at the right level of intensity that was needed for the game. Unfortunately, his five interceptions, nine ball recoveries, and three chances created did not contribute to a winning performance.

Kenny McLean: 8

Like Mattsson, the captain stepped up to the intensity of the game in the second half and almost dragged the side back into the match on his own with a couple of surging runs.

Remained composed to score from the spot just days after Mohamed Toure missed his penalty against Derby County.

The attack

Paris Maghoma: 5

This was possibly Paris Maghoma’s worst performance in a Norwich shirt. It felt like nothing was working for him, taking too many touches, losing the ball cheaply, and not getting his shots off in time.

Anis Ben Slimane: 6

Norwich’s Tunisia international was slightly more effective than Maghoma, playing in the ten role, and was unfortunate not to register an assist with his brilliant ball around the corner to Toure in the first half.

Liam Gibbs: 5

You always know that you are going to get hard work from Liam Gibbs wherever he played, but his performance against Swansea was like his performance against Derby without the brilliant goal.

He looked out of place in an attacking role and Ben Knapper has to ensure that Clement has more natural options in those positions next season.

Mohamed Toure: 5

Toure, more than anyone, is allowed a bad game. He lost the ball 12 times from 20 touches and only completed 29% of his passes, whilst also scuffing a good opportunity in the first half.

The substitutes

Ali Ahmed: 6

The Canada international added a bit more width to Norwich’s play down the left when he came on, but his final pass or cross was not quite there.

Mathias Kvistgaarden: 7

Mathias Kvistgaarden came on and brilliantly closed down Swansea’s defenders multiple times before challenging bravely to win the penalty that Norwich equalised from.

Jacob Wright: 5

The former Manchester City youth prospect looked a little too sloppy with the ball at his feet when he came on, which is unusual by his standards.

Amankwah Forson: N/A
