  • Norwich City won at Carrow Road for the first time since March.
  • Canaries had their first penalty awarded to them under Clement.
  • Vladan Kovacevic sealed the win with a string of impressive saves.

Norwich City followed up their 4-2 win over Bristol City on Saturday with a 2-1 win against play-off chasing Derby County at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.

Despite missing a penalty through Mohamed Toure early on, the Canaries secured all three points against the Rams thanks to goals from Toure and Liam Gibbs.

Now, strap in and brace yourself for a barrage of praise coming the way of most of the players who started the match for Norwich…

Defence

Vladan Kovacevic: 8.5

Norwich City’s number one could have done better with David Ozoh’s equaliser for the away side, but he more than made up for it with a string of incredible saves.

His stop in the 96th minute is up there with his best saves of the season, alongside his stop away at Wrexham earlier this year.

Jack Stacey: 6

Jack Stacey came back in at right-back and offered exactly what you expect from him – a lot of running up and down the right.

The quality of his defensive work and his deliveries into the box left a little bit to be desired, though.

Harry Darling: 8

Drafted in during the warm-up after Ruairi McConville’s illness, Harry Darling put in an excellent shift at the back, making 13 clearances in total.

Jose Cordoba: 8.5

It is safe to say that Derby’s fans will not have many nice words to say about Jose Cordoba after he won four fouls and won eight of his nine ground duels against their side, dominating their attackers with ease.

Kellen Fisher: 7

Norwich’s makeshift left-back put in a solid defensive performance, winning eight of his 11 duels, but was not as outstanding as his central defenders.

Midfield

Pelle Mattsson: 7

I put in my ratings for the Bristol City game that you can pencil the Dane in for a 7/10 before the game even starts. True again.

Kenny McLean: 6

The captain’s all-round performance was as solid as you would expect, but his error in not clearing the ball or finding his way out of trouble for Derby’s goal takes him down a rating.

Attack

Amankwah Forson: 7.5

Amankwah Forson won the penalty, assisted Toure’s opening goal, and put the hard yards in defensively for the team, making three interceptions. Hopefully, a sign of things to come.

Paris Maghoma: 8

The only person stopping Paris Maghoma from getting to the very top of the game is Paris Maghoma. He has every attribute that you want in a number ten.

If he can refine his decision-making in the final third, the former Brentford man will be a truly special player.

He provided the assist for the winning goal and created three other chances for his teammates on the night.

Liam Gibbs: 7

Liam Gibbs is the hardest player to evaluate after the game because a lot of his work in possession was disappointing, playing out of position on the left.

However, he worked his socks off throughout the game, constantly closing down to force Derby back, and took his goal brilliantly.

Mohamed Toure: 7

It was not Mohamed Toure’s finest game in a Norwich shirt, mainly because of the penalty miss, but his strike for the opening goal was magnificent.
