- Ruairi McConville has missed Norwich’s last two matches with a knee injury.
- Fisher was forced off in second half of the 2-1 win over Millwall on Monday.
- Norwich City face Ipswich Town with several players still on the sidelines.
Norwich City are set to be handed a double selection boost ahead of their clash with Ipswich Town at Carrow Road on Saturday.
The Canaries are out for revenge after their 3-1 defeat at Portman Road under Liam Manning in the first half of the Championship season.
Philippe Clement’s chances of winning his first East Anglian derby have been bolstered by the return of central defender Ruairi McConville.
Ruairi McConville’s injury
The Northern Ireland international sustained a knee injury during his country’s 2-0 loss to Italy in a World Cup play-off match at the end of last month.
That injury ruled him out of the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth and the 2-1 win over Millwall in the two Easter games for Norwich.
Harry Darling took his place in the defence, partnering Jakov Medic on Friday and Jose Cordoba on Monday, and did not look too far out of place.
Kellen Fisher’s injury
Kellen Fisher, who has not missed a game through injury this season, was also a doubt heading into the East Anglian derby after he was substituted after 67 minutes against Millwall.
After the game, Clement confirmed to the Pink Un’s Paddy Davitt that the versatile defender felt a “little muscular pain“, which is why Ben Chrisene had to be brought on.
That situation created doubt over his availability for this weekend, but the manager has now confirmed that both McConville and Fisher are available for selection.
Clement on McConville and Fisher’s fitness…
“Kellen and Ruairi have been training this week, so they’re both in contention to be in the squad. It’s really positive news. In terms of everyone else involved on Monday, all are good to go again tomorrow.”
The Belgian head coach will have both McConville and Fisher to select for the clash with Ipswich after revealing in his pre-match press conference that they have trained all week.
On top of that, Norwich do not have any fresh injury issues to contend with after the win over Millwall, so there should not be any nasty surprises when the team news drops on Saturday.
The players Norwich will miss against Ipswich
There are still several players who are on the sidelines and will be watching the derby from the stands this weekend.
Ante Crnac and Mirko Topic have already been ruled out for the season with their respective ACL injuries, so they will not been seen until August, at least.
Papa Amadou Diallo and Jovon Makama are due back near the end of the season, although no specific timeframes have been given on their returns.
Shane Duffy and Jeffrey Schlupp have both been out for several months and it remains to be seen when they will be reintegrated into the first-team squad.
Matej Jurasek and Lucien Mahovo are also still missing through injury and no exact timeline has been provided on when they will return.
Harry Amass has returned to Manchester United after picking up an injury in his first game for the club on loan.
