Liverpool are hopeful of having both James Milner and Sadio Mane back for their trip to Norwich next weekend.
According to The Evening Standard, Milner and Mane have both stepped up their recoveries from their respective injuries and could be fit to face Norwich at Carrow Road.
The report claims that both players have been struggling with hamstring injuries, whilst Xhedran Shaqiri also remains sidelined for the Reds.
READ NORWICH VERDICT
Logic dictates that Norwich’s chances of picking up anything from this game, Mane or no Mane, are slim. Liverpool have won 24 of their 25 Premier League matches, with Manchester United’s 1-1 draw the only time they dropped points. This suggests that any team, let alone 20th-placed Norwich, would go into the game as underdogs.
Mane is one of the top-performing players in the league this season, though. He currently ranks fifth in the Premier League for WhoScored ratings and is top of Liverpool’s squad.
The forward has scored 11 and assisted six in 22 appearances, highlighting how productive he is at the top end of the pitch. This means that he could be a huge threat to the Norwich goal, especially with the Canaries boasting the joint-worst defensive record in the division.
Norwich can only hope that they pull off a miracle, similar to the Manchester City result earlier in the season.
Based on the stats provided above, it will take a bit of luck and – perhaps – Liverpool being off their game in order for Norwich to even think about getting points from this one.
