Buendia named in WhoScored Team of the Month

Norwich City midfielder Emi Buendia has been named in the official WhoScored Team of the Month for January.

WhoScored have released their Team of the Month across the top five major European leagues, with Buendia taking up his place on the right side of midfield.

Buendia shares the spotlight with European stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Virgil Van Dijk and Neymar after an impressive month for the Canaries.

READ NORWICH VERDICT

Buendia has been superb this season for Norwich in the top-flight. He has racked up seven assists in the Premier League, a tally only Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kevin De Bruyne can better. This shows that he has been one of the best creative players in the division, which is why he is so important to how Norwich play.

The Argentine midfielder tops Norwich’s squad for WhoScored ratings this season, with Kenny McLean and Sam Byram tied for second.

Ondrej Duda is level with Buendia, but it is unfair to count him as he has only played three matches so far. Buendia has averaged a rating of 7.32 across the campaign and has earned six Man of the Match awards.

He is one of the best attackers I have seen play for Norwich, alongside the likes of Nathan Redmond and James Maddison, and is an absolute joy to watch.

It will be interesting to see if Norwich are able to keep hold of him in the summer regardless of whether or not they stay up if any sides become keen on signing him.

matchday.
