Norwich are set to miss out on a move for Genk’s Mbwana Samatta, with the player looking likely to move to Aston Villa, as per Belgian outlet HLN.
The Canaries were reportedly linked with Samatta, with sides such as Brighton and Crystal Palace also having looked at a deal.

However, the Tanzanian forward is reportedly on his way to Aston Villa, with HLN reporting that the forward on his way to Villa Park for talks over personal terms.
Samatta scored 76 goals for Genk over 191 games and also netted against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season.

Norwich have been linked with several forwards during this window, with the departure of Dennis Srbeny opening the door for a forward to potentially join the club.
However, spending £9 million on a player like Samatta doesn’t make much sense for the Canaries.
With Norwich being very frugal over the summer, and during the January window, only spending over £4 million during the window according to Transfermarkt.
Therefore, especially with the Canaries sitting at the bottom of the table, it would be very strange to see them start spending big, which would put them in a difficult financial position if they are to suffer relegation back to the Championship.
