Norwich recently knocked back Tottenham’s interested in Ben Godrey, with the London club looking for a new centre-back, according to reports.
Toby Alderwiereld signed a new three-and-a-half year contract earlier this week, while Jan Vertonghen is out of contract in the summer and has yet to reach an agreement over a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Jose Mourinho has been on the lookout for new defensive reinforcements, with West Ham’s Issa Diop emerging as one target, while other reports claim that Godfrey had been someone on the club’s radar.
According to Football Insider, Spurs had been searching for a defender prior to Alderweireld having committed himself to the club, and Godfrey was one such name that caught their eye.

Daniel Farke however was not interested in talking about the versatile 21-year old, declaring that Godfrey is not for sale in the winter window.
Godfrey had played the full 90 minutes in every one of Norwich’s Premier League games this season, prior to their game against Wolves today, with the defender now out injured until February.

It goes without saying but as a young and talented player, Norwich certainly shouldn’t let Godfrey go, at least not for a premium fee.
Tottenham were right to approach Norwich as Godfrey has potential to play at the highest level, but Farke was also right to send the London club packing, particularly as the Canaries are still clinging to the hope that they could retain their Premier League status this season.
