Norwich City play Burnley this weekend hoping to add to their historic win over Manchester City.
For City’s sixth Premier League fixture, they will travel to Turf Moor to play Burnley who sit just one place and one point behind.
The Clarets started their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 win over Ralph Hasenhüttl’s Southampton. Their second game of the season came at top four contenders Arsenal.
The London club put in an impressive performance against the Clarets and came away with a 2-1 win.
Then came Wolves and the Clarets almost made it two wins from two games at home but they were denied by a ninety-seventh minute penalty from Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.
After that came League One side Sunderland in the Carabao Cup. The Black Cats beat a much-changed Clarets side 3-1 to progress to the third round. A 3-0 demolition at the home of the European champions followed.
Their last game was a hard fought 1-1 draw with Brighton in which they scored in the ninety first minute.
Byram vs McNeil
After marking Sterling pretty much all game last week it doesn’t get much easier this week for Byram. Despite making one Premier League appearance the year before, McNeil really made a name for himself last year.
The uncapped Englishman grabbed three goals and five assists in twenty-one appearances. Byram will have to watch the Clarets’ new number eleven closely otherwise he could cause havoc in the City back line.
Barnes vs Godfrey
Another of Burnley’s attacking players, Barnes has started the season on fire already netting four times.
The uncapped Austrian striker, who started his career at Plymouth Argyle, will have his work cut out adding to that tally as he goes up against arguably City’s best defender. Ever-present this season, Godfrey has picked up credit from many of the City faithful.
Pukki vs Tarkowski
The Fin has also started the season brilliantly, already netting six times along the way and winning the August player of the month. But he will come up against Tarkowski this week and getting past him is no mean feat.
The 26-year-old, who has been capped twice for England, has been one of Burnley’s best players over the last few seasons. With his constant top-class performances he has gained interest from many other Premier League clubs.
Leicester have been the main club interested in him after they lost fellow England defender Maguire to Manchester United for eighty million, but Leicester were not happy to pay the £50million the Clarets wanted for Tarkowski.
McLean vs Westwood
McLean opened the scoring against Manchester City last week and this week will go up against Westwood. The mainly defensive midfielder grabbed seven assists last season as the Clarets finished fifteenth.
Burnley’s unsung hero is very well matched with the Canaries McLean and the winner of this battle may just be the winner of tomorrow’s game.
