Do Norwich need to make changes against Manchester City?
After a less than spectacular start to their first Premier League season since 2015-16, is it time for a change? I will take a look at some changes that some City could make in the coming games.
Kenny McLean
Featured regularly towards the back end of last season’s promotion winning campaign after an injury ruled him out for most of the first half of the season. After scoring in City’s last home pre-season friendly against French side Toulouse, the Scottish midfielder was selected to start at the home of the European champions on the first day of the season. Unfortunately, he failed to impress Farke and since then, Leitner has been selected over the Scot. Although Leitner gave an impressive performance against Steve Bruce’s Newcastle, his last two performances haven’t impressed and sections of the City fans are calling for a change. Should Kenny start ahead of Mo against the Sky Blues in just over a week?
Mario Vrancic/Patrick Roberts
Over the last couple of Premier League games Marco Steipermann has also been less than impressive, giving the ball away far too many times in midfield. The German’s spot has plenty of cover at the Canaries with Cantwell being able to play in the “number ten” role. But I’ve picked Bosnian Mario Vrancic and on-loan Man City winger Patrick Roberts. Vrancic showed moments of brilliance last season scoring some of City’s best goals and also coming up with seven assists. Despite this Mario is yet to get a start in the top flight only coming on as a sub on a couple of occasions. As for new recruit Patrick Roberts, he is yet to play a single minute this season in the Premier League. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder picked up just one assist last year at Spanish side Girona after fruitful spells at Celtic. Roberts was one of Norwich’s best players in pre-season over the summer, impressing in several games.
Ibrahim Amadou
Another player on loan from a major European club, Sevilla, the defensive midfielder has only played a cup game in his preferred position. In City’s last fixture he did feature but in his less preferred position of centre back. Despite this he put in a decent performance and with Trybull out for around six weeks, now could be the time for the Frenchman to impress.
Those are my changes ahead of Manchester City. Would you change anything?
