Blackpool manager Simon Grayson has backed on-loan Norwich defender Rocky Bushiri to learn from his mistakes this season.
The centre-back scored an own-goal as Blackpool were knocked out of the League Cup on Tuesday – losing on penalties to Macclesfield after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
Speaking to The Blackpool Gazette, Grayson said this:
He’s a little bit rash at times hence he’s had an eventful night, picking up a yellow card and scoring an own goal. But he was also composed on the ball and defended well.
I thought he responded really well in the second half and didn’t really have too many issues to deal with.
He will learn from this as will a few other players.

Is Blackpool the perfect loan move for Bushiri?
Yes. Neil Adams has done a fantastic job since becoming the loan manager at Norwich, helping to develop the club’s young players by identifying the right moves for them.
You only have to look at the progress of Ben Godfrey and Todd Cantwell after their spells with Shrewsbury and Fortuna Sittard respectively – with both players starting against Liverpool at Anfield last week.
Blackpool currently sit top of League One, which suggests that they will be battling for promotion this season. This means that they are likely to dominate the ball, giving Bushiri the chance to develop as a dominant centre-back – improving both his aggressiveness to press and win the ball back to start counters and his ability at passing the ball out from the back.
It also gives him the chance to make errors, as Grayson explained, and learn from them as the season progresses. As a young player, it is important to make mistakes and improve, which this loan move gives Bushiri the chance to do.
The 19-year-old will hope to follow a similar path to Godfrey, who impressed in League One before becoming a regular in Norwich’s first-team under Daniel Farke.
