Norwich City kicked off their 2019/20 Premier League season with a 4-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
The Canaries were 4-0 down at half-time and 3-0 down after just 30 minutes, with Grant Hanley scoring a dreadful own-goal to put Liverpool ahead in the 7th minute.
Mo Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Divock Origi scored Liverpool’s other goals, before Teemu Pukki pulled one back for Norwich in the second-half – racing on to an Emi Buendia through ball before finding the bottom corner with typical precision.
Despite the loss, there were plenty of encouraging signs for Norwich but who was their man of the match?

We have decided to go with… Ben Godfrey!
The 21-year-old centre-back was making his Premier League debut, just a year on from being a substitute defensive midfielder in the Championship – oh how time flies!
If starting your first ever Premier League match at Anfield isn’t hard enough, he had to deal with his centre-back partner Grant Hanley scoring an own goal after seven minutes and consistently making errors alongside him.
Godfrey made a number of impressive interceptions and blocks to cover for Hanley, as well as being very strong in the air – particularly in the second-half.
Given everything that was thrown his way during the game, Godfrey can walk away pleased with his individual performance.
Tim Krul and Todd Cantwell were also strong contenders, with the Dutchman making a number of fine saves and the academy product impressing down the left side of midfield.
