West Brom are keen on keeping Norwich target Jay Rodriguez, with the player happy at the club, according to West Brown technical director Luke Dowling.
As reported by the Leicester Mercury, the likes of Norwich, Leicester and Sheffield United have all expressed an interest in the player this summer.
Rodriguez was in fine form for the Baggies last season in the Championship, scoring an astonishing 22 goals and assisting six in 47 matches in the league.
This was a great improvement for the Englishman as he has regularly struggled with injuries in recent years.
Dowling is very confident that he will be staying at the Hawthorns for the coming season, even though he believes there will be plenty of transfer interest in the player.
Speaking about the player’s future, he said:
Last year was one of his best in terms of game time. He recognises the support the club have given him over the years. There’s always going to be speculation, but he was in Monday with a smile on his face, the normal Jay that we know.
He’s not indicated to us that he’s in a rush to move. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was here on August 9.
It will be interesting to see what Rodriguez and his suitors decide in the next few weeks. The lure of top-flight football may be too good to turn down for the forward.
He is certainly capable of stepping up to the plate and playing Premier League football as he has done before with Burnley and Southampton in previous years.
