Borussia Dortmund defender Felix Passlack has opened up about his season-long loan at Norwich City after swapping the Bundesliga for the Championship.
The 21-year-old arrived in England expecting to be Daniel Farke’s first-choice right-back during the 2018-19 campaign, but the uprise of teenager Max Aarons limited him to just five appearances in all competitions.
Speaking to The Pink Un, Passlack explained how Aarons’ phenomenal season crushed his chances of making an impact at the club.
I went to Norwich with the clear goal of becoming a regular. Max Aarons got his chance early in the season and really used it. It was clear to me that he had overtaken me. For me, it was then waiting until I got my chance someday. Unfortunately, that never came because Max continued to perform well and the team was so successful. However, I was very happy for the team and the entire club, and how we have made people in the region happy.
The German defender also revealed he isn’t sure where his future lies ahead of the start of pre-season training with Dortmund on July 3.
You’d imagine the only way the Canaries would approach him again is if Aarons is prized away from Carrow Road this summer, however, he looks 99% set on staying.
A season in the Premier League is set to present him with a huge test, but an exciting one no less.
