Norwich City have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Kalvin Phillips after it emerged the midfielder would like to stay at Leeds United.
The Canaries are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old, who impressed at the base of Leeds’ midfield under Marcelo Bielsa last season.
However, BBC journalist Adam Pope has claimed that Phillips, who was born in Leeds, wants to stay at Elland Road, with Argentinian coach Bielsa’s decision to stay with the Whites a factor in his decision.

Phillips played 46 games in all competitions last season, impressing with his strong defensive performances and demonstrated a great calmness, confidence and passing range when in possession.
His performances have caught the eye of a number of clubs, with fellow promoted side Aston Villa heavily linked with a £14 million bid.
However, Pope’s claims would suggest that the task of signing Phillips has just become that bit more difficult, and Norwich may have to move on to other targets as they look to strengthen ahead of their return to the Premier League.
