Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday or both reportedly interested in signing Middlesbrough midfielder John Obi Mikel this summer.
According to CompleteSport, Norwich are said to be monitoring him ahead of a potential swoop in the next transfer window.
Mikel joined Middlesbrough in January on a short-term deal and will become a free agent this summer.
The Nigerian international has impressed in Middlesbrough’s midfield and has plenty of Premier League experience from his time at Chelsea.
Mikel spent 10 years at Chelsea and made 249 Premier League appearances for the club, winning two league titles, three FA Cup’s, a League Cup, a Europa League and, the most prestigious of all, the Champions League.
Norwich will be playing Premier League football again next season, after securing promotion last month, and will now be looking for recruits to strengthen their squad.
With Mikel available on a free transfer, he could be the ideal target for Norwich to bring in.
