Norwich academy midfielder Tom Scully is drawing inspiration from the rise of Max Aarons this season.
Scully joined Norwich in 2018 after he was released by Everton – impressing on trial with the Canaries before signing a professional deal.
The former Everton man has recalled that Aarons played in the same team as him during his trial game, but was in the first-team by the time it came to him signing a contract with Norwich.
Speaking to Norwich’s website, Scully said this:
I was saying a couple of days ago that when my trial game came about, Max Aarons was in the team. Then I came back and he was in the First-Team.
It just shows all of us that there is a pathway. You don’t really find four academy graduates in a team every week.
My strength is in my passing and keeping the ball. Vision, seeing what’s on around me [is also one of my strengths].
I could probably work on adding more goals and assists. The main aim right now is to get bigger in the gym but obviously I would like to score more goals.
Aarons, 19, has become Norwich’s first-choice right-back this season after making his league debut against Ipswich in September.
Todd Cantwell, Ben Godfrey and Jamal Lewis are also academy graduates who have been first-team regulars this season for Norwich.
