Grant Hanley ruled out for 6-8 weeks with quadriceps injury

Norwich City have been dealt a huge blow with the news that captain Grant Hanley will be out of action for between six and eight weeks after he injured his quadriceps, as reported by Chris Goreham of BBC Norfolk.

If the Scottish international is out for eight weeks, he’ll likely not return before the November international break. As it stands, the Canaries have 12 games scheduled between now and that point, and that could increase further if they advance in the Carabao Cup.

Speaking about the injury, Norwich boss Daniel Farke told BBC Radio Norfolk:

Grant is our leader and our skipper so it’s really bad news for us. We have to handle it and we will. I trust the group that we will be able to.

The 26-year-old suffered the injury in a training session ahead of this weekend’s game against promotion-chasing Middlesbrough. Norwich will hope to have him back as soon as possible, but they’ll be wise not to rush him back as the last thing they, or the player, needs is a reoccurrence of the issue.
