Marley Watkins earns second international cap

Norwich midfielder Marley Watkins won his second international cap against China today in Ryan Giggs’ first game as Wales manager.

The 27-year old was a 71st minute substitution as Wales comprehensibly beat Marcello Lippi’s China side 6-0.

Watkins won his first cap for the Dragons back in November, during a 1-1 draw with Panama.

Goals came from Harry Wilson, a Sam Vokes brace and a record-breaking hat-trick from Gareth Bale, making the Real Madrid star Wales’ all-time leading goalscorer, overtaking Ian Rush on 28.

Watkins could yet earn his third cap before returning to Carrow Road, with Giggs’ men set to take on the winner of Czech Republic and Uruguay on Monday in the final of the China Cup.
