Alex Tettey admits that his days at Norwich could be numbered, with his contract coming to an end in the summer.
The 31-year old tough tackling midfielder made a successful return to the Norwich line-up against Birmingham City on Boxing Day, underlining his importance to Daniel Farke’s side.
Despite the Canaries winning five and going unbeaten in all six league games in which Tettey has started this season, the former Norway international accepts that his time at Carrow Road may soon come to an end.
When asked about whether he could leave the club when his deal expires in the summer, Tettey said;
Who knows? I don’t know, but there is a big possibility, yes. That’s me being honest.
As the manager would say, I don’t want to go too deep with it, I don’t want to talk too much about it but it is what it is, I’ve been here a long time, experienced a lot, Norwich has given me a lot.
In June my contract expire and who knows? Anything can happen.
Tettey has been with Norwich since 2012, where he signed from Rennes in France for an undisclosed deal. Last summer, the midfielder was linked with a number of different destinations if he was to leave the club, one of which would have seen him link up with former Norwich manager Alex Neil.
Talking about his future, Tettey said;
It’s not a good situation, to be honest. No professional football player wants to be out of contract but I’m personally not thinking much about it, my agent is dealing with that part so that I can focus on football.
At the moment nothing is happening so I have nothing to say but hopefully that can change soon because no-one wants to be unemployed.
To stay in England and play football, that’s what I’m hoping for still.
