Everton linked with Norwich midfielder James Maddison

Everton want to sign Norwich City playmaker James Maddison, according to a report from ESPN.

The young midfielder has been in fine form this season, and has arguably been the Canaries’ best player. His individual performances have helped him to a call-up for the England Under-21 squad, and his displays have not gone unnoticed by the looks of things.

It’s claimed in the report that Everton have been closely monitoring Maddison following his burst onto the scene this season, and are keen to add his creative talents to their squad.

Steve Walsh, Everton’s director of football, was reportedly in attendance as Norwich fell to a 2-1 defeat away at struggling Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers. In what was a dire game for the Canaries, Maddison was one positive.

The 22-year-old has netted four goals, and has also accumulated five assists in all competitions so far this season.

Norwich are understood to be confident of fending off Everton’s interest, and it’s certainly unlikely that Daniel Farke will allow one of his best players to go in the mid-season transfer window.
