Matthews discussing new deal with Norwich

Norwich goalkeeper Remi Matthews is reportedly holding talks with the club over a new deal.

According to a report from HITC Sport, the Canaries are keen to tie the goalkeeper down to an extended contract at Carrow Road following some time away on loan.

Matthews is yet to make his debut for Norwich’s senior side but at 23-years-old, will surely be expected to make a push for first-team action in the near future.

The promising shot stopper spent the duration of last season gaining valuable experience out in Scotland, playing for Hamilton Academical. The news of his loan came immediately after it was confirmed by the club that he had penned a new two-year deal with the club.

An option to extend Matthews’ stay at Norwich for a further year was included in the deal last summer, and it looks as though the Canaries are poised to exercise this option.

Matthews played 27 times in what was a relatively successful period in Scotland.
