Grant Hanley pleased to join massive club

Grant Hanley says that he is delighted to be joining a massive club, following his arrival at Norwich.

Norwich City have completed the signing of Hanley from Newcastle on a four-year deal.

The Scottish international has put pen to paper on the contract after completing his medical at Colney on Wednesday.

He will now return to the Scotland squad for this week’s international fixtures, where he will link up with his new teammates Steven Naismith and Russell Martin.

Speaking to Norwich’s website, Hanley said this:

Being able to come to a massive club and get games is a big motivation for me.

It’s a club with high aspirations and a fresh start for me. As a defender, I’m a bit of an old-fashioned no-nonsense centre-half and you pride yourself on clean sheets.

We’ve got work to do on the training ground to improve that.

Hanley has joined the club for a fee, thought to be, in the region of £3.5m. This is £2m less than Newcastle paid for him.

Newcastle signed Hanley for £5.5m from Blackburn last summer, but only started a handful of games as the club won the Championship title.

He now joins a Norwich side desperately looking to improve their defence after letting in 12 goals in the first five games of the season.

Hanley becomes Norwich’s fourth central defensive signing of the summer. He joins Christoph Zimmermann, Marcel Franke and Sean Raggett in bolstering the club’s options at the back.

Hanley’s first game at the Canaries could come against Birmingham City on September 9th. If you’re thinking about placing a bet on the game you should check out some of these top uk betting offers.
