Norwich midfielder Louis Thompson has been ruled out of action for six months, following an injury setback.
Thompson has been injured since last November when he picked up a serious Achilles injury in training shortly after his impressive display against Leeds.
The central midfielder turned in a dominant display against Leeds at Carrow Road and looked set for a good run of games in the side.
However, his injury curtailed his entire season and it is now set to see him miss half of next season.
The 22-year-old was working his way back from injury ready for pre-season training this summer but has suffered a reoccurrence of the problem.
Norwich Sporting Director Stuart Webber has also said that he could be out for the whole of next season, which would be an even bigger blow to the promising midfielder.
Speaking to Norwich’s website, Webber said this:
Everyone at Norwich City is bitterly disappointed for Louis following this news.
It is expected Louis will be unavailable for a substantial period, if not the entirety, of this season. However, we will be working with him to ensure he is able to return to fitness at the earliest opportunity.
Thompson has been with Norwich since 2014 and made five appearances for City in all competitions last season.
