Howson moves to Middlesbrough

Jonny Howson has left Norwich to join cChampionship rivals Middlesbrough, the club have confirmed .

Howson is believed to have joined for a fee in the region fo £6m. A move for the Englishman seemed inevitable after it emerged that he was homesick, and wished to move to a northern side to be closer to his family.

Howson joined Norwich in 2012 from Leeds United, the latest in a number of players to leave the Lilywhites for the Canaries. Since then, Howson has made 188 appearances for City, scoring 23 times. He was awarded Player of the Season for the 15/16 campaign, which saw Norwich relegated from the Premier League.

Middlesbrough finished last season 19th in the Premier League, seeing them relegated only one season after being promoted. They begin the push to go straight back up with an away trip to Wolves.
