Norwich are planning to exercise their option to sign Mitchell Dijks on a permanent basis this summer.
Sporting director Stuart Webber has told BBC Radio Norfolk that the club are interested in utilising their option, but it will depend on the financial side of the deal.
Webber said: “With Mitchell, we have the option to buy him, so to a certain degree it’s our call,” the sporting director explained.
“We need to agree personal terms and from a financial point of view we need to be creative with the squad, so if that means Mitchell or any other player we’re trying to get falls out of that, we can’t do it.”
Dijks has been a popular figure among the Norwich City supporters since arriving on loan from Ajax during the January transfer window.
The powerful left-back has slotted into the Norwich defence with ease and looked comfortable in the Championship.
The defender has previously stated that he is enjoying life in England and did not rule out the option of staying beyond his loan stay.
Since joining in January, the 24-year-old has made 15 appearances in the Championship and scored just the single goal.
