Norwich City have moved to nine points away from the play-offs after losing 5-1 to Sheffield Wednesday.
The Canaries capitulated at Hillsborough as The Owls eased their way through Norwich’s defence five times to go nine points ahead of their opponents.
It all began after just 15 minutes. John Ruddy raced out to clear the ball and hit it straight to Ross Wallace, who scored from 40-yards into an empty net.
Jordan Rhodes then made it 2-1 when he guided a header past Ruddy from a good cross out wide.
Cameron Jerome pulled one back when he headed home but Wednesday restored their two-goal lead just minutes later as Morgan Fox bulleted a header in from a corner.
Rhodes added his second and Wednesday’s fourth in the second half to make it 4-1 as he finished well yet again with his head from a good Forestieri cross.
The scoring was sealed when Forestieri whipped a superb free-kick in from distance to make it 5-1.
Picking a man of the match has been difficult, as no one deserved to be singled out for praise. But one player has to be picked and I have gone with Jonny Howson.
I’m not going to go on and try to mask up the defeat or any of the player’s performances. Howson was poor, but he was the least poor of all the players out there.
