According to Ed Aarons of the Guardian, Norwich have submitted a bid worth £1.5m for the 23-year-old centre-back this month.
MacDonald started life out at Reading where he rose through the ranks but failed to establish himself in the first-team before leaving to join non-league Salisbury on a free transfer in 2013.
After a year with the Whites, the former England U19 international joined Torquay where he impressed in a two-year spell which prompted Barnsley to shell out £100,000 to bring him to Oakwell.
He’s been a regular in the side this season, making 19 Championship appearances which have caught the eye of Norwich who have launched a bid to sign him.
Torquay would be in-line to receive 15% of any future sell-on fee, which, should the current offer be accepted, would see them pocket £225,000.
