We’re now in September, with a month of the new season having already past us by…
Norwich played six matches in August, five in the league and one in the EFL Cup. Those six matches resulted in three wins, two draws and one defeat.
Norwich beat Blackburn, Bristol City and Coventry. They could only pick up two points from Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday, and were hammered 3-0 by Birmingham in the last match of the month.
As you may know, we do our man of the match award after each match – with the winner of the most man of the match awards at the end of the season winning our player of the season award.
Timm Klose won it last season, despite only being at the club since January. But, he is yet to win a man of the match award this time around.
So far this season there has been one standout for man of the match awards. This player has won four man of the matches out of the six games, only playing in five of them.
He has played every minute of Championship action so far, helping Norwich to keep two clean sheets to date.
You may have already guessed it… it’s Ryan Bennett!
Bennett is our player of the month for August! He won our man of the match against Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich. Bennett and Jacob Murphy then shared the award against Birmingham. This means that Bennett has been our man of the match in Norwich’s last four Championship matches.
It’s been a very strong start to the season for Bennett, certainly his best since being at the club. Bennett and Klose have formed a superb partnership and long may that continue!
