In a recent interview with BBC Radio Nottingham, Nottm Forest’s owner Fawaz Al Hasawi confirmed rumours that Norwich had several bids rejected for the 23-year-old striker Britt Assombalonga.
In the interview, he said:
We had an offer from Norwich for him (Assombalonga), and I had to reject as we need a prolific striker and he is the man to bring us forward.
The club have made a number of high-profile sales this year, which has drastically changed the squad harmony at The City Ground, with players like Henri Lansbury and Assombalonga referencing so on Twitter. These sales include Chris and Oliver Burke and goalkeeper De Vries.
In other news, Nottingham want to give Britt a new contract to keep him at the club, which would prevent Norwich for coming back for him at a later date.
We are in talks for him to sign a new contract, hopefully tomorrow. He currently has three years left and we wish to make that five. He will certainly get more money than what he’s earning
This would mean overall that if Norwich ever wanted to try again; they may have to wait a few years and also offer much higher wages.
Britt signed for The Reds from Peterborough in 2014 for £5 million, scoring 19 goals in thirty-six matches and has been heavily linked with moves away throughout the past two transfer windows with clubs such as Norwich.
