Norwich City kicked off in the Championship for the first time at Carrow Road this season, with a 0-0 draw against promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday.
It was also a debut for the new ‘rotating big screen’ at Carrow Road, but there were no goal replays to be shown today. There was a distinct lack of goalmouth action throughout the game.
Cameron Jerome had the first ‘chance’ of the match, but his footwork let him down as he looked set to race clear on goal and the defender cleared it away.
Alex Neil was hit with a double injury blow, as Martin Olsson and John Ruddy were both forced off before the start of the second half. Olsson went off with a hamstring injury during the first half and then Ruddy was replaced by Michael McGovern – for his debut – at half-time.
It was a strong defensive performance from City, so my man of the match had to be a defender.
I have been deliberating between Timm Klose and Ryan Bennett, but I have gone for the former Peterborough man.
Klose was solid at the back, but Bennett was sublime. He made some fantastic interceptions and read the game very well.
Bennett was also more composed on the ball than he usually is, with less hoofs up the pitch early on, instead opting for the sensible route more often than not.
