Norwich City started their Championship season with a flyer today as they eased past Blackburn 4-1.
There was a fair bit of scepticism before the match, given the fact that Norwich hadn’t won an opening day match for 14 years.
However, all that was erased as Jacob Murphy opened the scoring. The winger, making his first league start for the club, smashed a shot into the top corner from 25-yards to give Norwich the lead.
Wes Hoolahan then got in on the act, strolling into the box to finish low.
Norwich then got a third as Jason Steele scored an own goal. Cameron Jerome’s header from six yards out hit the post and Steele inadvertently bundled the ball into his own net.
Steven Naismith rounded off the scoring for Norwich, slotting past the ‘keeper after Wes Hoolahan nutmegged the defender.
