Although last night was marred by Norwich’s official relegation from the Premier League this season, don’t let that detract from a fantastic performance at Carrow Road.
Very frustrating how the team waits until relegation is all but confirmed to put in their best performance of the season… too little too late.
Anyway, to the positives. It was a superb 4-2 win against Watford last night and a good way to sign off at Carrow Road for the season, giving the fans a bit of joy – something that they haven’t had much of this year.
It looked like it was going to be another disappointing night when John Ruddy gifted Troy Deeney a goal after 11 minutes. But, it was a fine response from City, with goals Nathan Redmond drawing level after 15 minutes and then Dieumerci Mbokani tapping in the second three minutes later. Cathcart then scored an own goal before Odion Ighalo pulled one back for Watford. Dieumerci Mbokani then sealed the win with a delightful dink over the goalkeeper.
There were plenty of players who I could have given man of the match; Ivo Pinto, Graham Dorrans, Nathan Redmond, Wes Hoolahan. But, I have gone for Dieumerci Mbokani!

In what was, possibly, his last ever match for Norwich at Carrow Road, he highlighted just how naive Alex Neil has been all season in picking Cameron Jerome ahead of him.
Mbokani has started just 15 Premier League matches this season, scoring seven times. If Neil hadn’t of persisted with the woeful Jerome, Norwich may not be in the mess they now find themselves in.
But back to the striker’s performance last night. He held the ball up well all night and worked very hard throughout the match. Mbokani netted his sixth of the season when he prodded the ball home after 18 minutes before scoring his seventh by racing onto a Redmond through ball and sumptuously dinking the ball over Gomes.
A very worthy man of the match, thank you Dieu!
