Norwich loanee, Patrick Bamford, has said he feels ready to play a part for Norwich City ahead of their crucial trip to Villa Park to face Aston Villa.
The 22-year-old who is on loan from Chelsea, wasn’t selected in Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat to Spurs and is in line for a place in the squad this weekend.
Speaking to Norwich’s official website ahead of the game, Bamford said:
Everyone knows it’s a big game but we’ll try to take the pressure off. We have to take it in our stride in order to do as well as we can. Aston Villa need to win and it’s the same as for us really. Every point you get this season is massive. I’m excited by the challenge of a relegation battle as it’s a new thing for me. Last year at Middlesbrough I learned a lot about playing for the team more than for myself so hopefully that’ll help.
Bamford will be hoping his time in Norfolk will be a lot more rewarding than the first half of the season which was spent primarily on the bench at Crystal Palace. The Englishman only made nine appearances in all competitions and failed to find the net in his bit-part role for the London club.
However, last season’s Championship “Player of the Year” will have stiff competition for a place in attack as Dieumerci Mbokani’s recent performances have been a rare bright spot for the Canaries in what has been a miserable few weeks on the pitch for Norwich City.
