In what could well be the game of the season, Norwich City fell to a 5-4 defeat to Liverpool in an outstanding game at Carrow Road this lunchtime.
Liverpool scored early on before Norwich equalised and had a 3-1 lead over the Reds. Liverpool fought for a comeback as they went 4-3 up before Norwich equalised in stoppage time and then, straight after, Liverpool went up the other end and scored the ninth goal of the match, taking all three points back to Merseyside.

Steven Naismith was the highlight of the match, making his debut and scoring a great goal. The Scotsman linked up well with Dieumerci Mbokani, who also scored today. Ivo Pinto made his debut, and had some promising spells.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the match.
Ryan Bennett was dropped for today’s game, to most of the fans’ confusion. This seems to be the case for most supporters.
Twitter: If Ryan Bennett was dropped in place of Russell Martin then the manager needs his head testing. #Nightmare (@James_Shiplee)
Twitter: Ryan Bennett was dropped for no reason. No injury and didn’t even make the bench? He’s been our best centre back this season! (@PrideOfAnglia)
Twitter: @paddyjdavitt Very unfair on Ryan Bennett to be dropped from matchday squad let alone starting line up. (@EdCouzensLake)
It’s safe to say fans do not want to see Russell Martin play centre back again.
Twitter: Who wants to hear a good joke?
Russell Martin plays centre back in the Premier League (@jacknorwich)
Twitter: Russell Martin again … What a surprise!!! #useless (@sleech77)
Twitter: Correct me if I’m wrong but the last time Russell Martin started at centre back was against Newcastle and we conceded six (@CoopDuck)
Twitter: Russell Martin is the worst player in the Premier League. Fact. #NCFC (@jacobsinky)
It’s not all negative, however, most fans seem to agree that Steven Naismith had a terrific debut, despite the result.
Twitter: Naismith quality and plenty of good signs. Plenty. Just have to sort out the back 5 urgently (@Holtamania)
Twitter: Steven Naismith. He’s quality. #OTBC (@Holmaan99)
Twitter: One postive Naismith was outstanding#ncfc (@joncanary)
There was also praise for the big man up front, Mbokani. The partnership is something to look forward too.
Twitter: Positives. Naismith and Mbokani has the makings of a great combo and we’ve got a bit of a break to sort things out now. #NCFC (@iwritethings23)
Twitter: Only positives from that are that Naismith and Mbokani clicked from the get go. Klose has got to start next game without a doubt #canarycall (@Tommy__Shaw)
Twitter: Right, feel drained by that.Any loyalties to certain players need to be forgotten.Mbokani and Naismith together looks promising.#ncfc (@forders6469)
Well, up next for Norwich is a midweek match when Tottenham come to visit Carrow Road on 2nd February. Let’s hope for better…
