Goalscorer Alex Tettey spoke to the media following Norwich City’s 1-0 victory against Southampton, through his second goal of the season.
Set up by Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe in the 76th minute, the Norwegian midfielder was on hand to guide the ball into the top corner, which was ultimately enough to secure all three points for City’s second consecutive win and third win in four league games.
Tettey told Norwich City TV of his delight in seeing his reenactment of a Yaya Toure goal hit the back of the net from 12 yards out.
It was nice to do a Yaya Toure today, so I’m very pleased.
It was a great goal. Like I’ve said before, whenever I score a goal, it gets talked about.
He also found time to praise his teammate, Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, in assisting his goal:
Vadis was great with the assist and did very well when he came on. In training, he’s been really impressive, which the gaffer has seen. He’d doing really well and has to continue that.

The midfielder also told Sky Sports of the boost the sending off of Southampton’s Victor Wanyama just before he scored the winner.
That was a massive boost for us. Before that, they were in the game and when he went off, we got extra confidence from that and the goal came not far from when he went off. That helped us concentrate on helping us see it out.
On reevaluation of the past month, Tettey reiterated his manager’s words in emphasising the Canaries picking up much-needed points.
With this team and where we are, we know we have to pick up points and we have done that last month and we just need to keep going.
It was a good goal, a good win and a good start of the new year.
