Norwich City have announced today that Alan Bowkett has stepped down from his role as Chairman and as a member of the board of directors.
Bowkett joined the club in 2009 as chairman as Norwich slipped to League 1 after a dismal few seasons in the Championship. Bowkett was appointed alongside David McNally and has seen the team reach a sound financial footing in the Premier League. Speaking when he was appointed, Bowkett had a clear vision for Norwich.
Our task at Norwich City is a simple one – we must start winning football matches. It will be the board’s responsibility to ensure that we have the appropriate resources to do that, both human and financial.
The club have said that they are currently undergoing a reshuffle on the board of directors and that new directors and a new chairman will be announced in the coming weeks. Bowkett’s successor will have the hard task of making decisions that mean Norwich are on a sound financial footing for years to come, with more Premier League TV riches available if the club stays in the Premier League.
