Norwich City central defender Ryan Bennett has revealed his delight at being back in the first-team picture at Norwich and playing regular football.
Norwich host Swansea tomorrow at Carrow Road and Ryan Bennett is virtually a nailed on starter for the game in central defence alongside Sebastien Bassong.
Bennett joined Norwich in 2012 from Peterborough but injuries and form have prevented the former England under-21 international from being a regular starter. He has played just 57 matches for Norwich in his three years and a half years at the club, despite probably being Norwich’s most consistent defender.
Ryan Bennett started the season on the bench, however the poor form of Russell Martin at centre back has now meant that he is starting to become a regular fixture for Norwich at the back. He has started each of Norwich’s last three fixtures and with Martin’s three match ban, is more than likely to start the next three.
I didn’t expect to come in this year and play from the start.Russell Martin and Sebastien Bassong did really well season while I was injured. They earned the right to play, and we began strongly this year.
You have to keep training hard to hopefully be given a chance. When the team is doing well everyone is happy, as that’s all that matters. If anyone gets the chance to play then they’ll be ready. It’s nice to be back and now I want to do as well as possible.
