When you think of Norwich legends, there are a few that spring to mind; one of whom is Adam Drury. The left-sided defender played over 300 games for the Canaries in an 11-year spell in Norfolk and won many admirers and cemented his place in the hearts of all Norwich fans.
He took the time to answer some questions from me on his Norwich City career.
How would you rate Norwich’s start to the season?
I think the start to the season has been ok. They have dominated possession in a lot of games or been in control the of the game but not scored. Also add to this individual mistakes have cost them.
Out of all the managers you played under at Norwich, who was the best?
Paul Lambert. Great man manager when he was at the club, you knew what he wanted and it was simple if you didn’t do it, you didn’t play! We had a great group of lads also, a real togetherness in the squad. Lambert gave everyone belief you could win any game no matter who we were playing. Was 3 unbelievable seasons.

Who was the toughest opponent you ever faced?
Was a few! Bale, Ronaldo, Giggs, Henry…. Dyer who was at Swansea was always tough.
Was it disappointing not to retire at Norwich?
Obviously I would have loved to stay and retire there but I felt I could play for a few more years and it was just the right time for me and the club after my testimonial to move on.
Out of all your Norwich promotions, which did you enjoy the most?
Oh tough one! Not sure you can pick one really, first one was great because I was captain, we won the title and we had reached the Premier League. Winning league one was incredible in the way we did it after losing on opening day 7-1, but then to go on and get promoted again to premier league the year after was some feat! All great for different reasons! Loved them all!!!
Who was the best player you played alongside?
I was lucky enough to play with some great players. A lad called Simon Davies who was at Posh with me was a top player and went on to be very good. Grant Holt for the impact he had, but for individual talent I would say Wes or Hucks. Lads that can change a game for you. I would say Hucks for the Championship winning season as without him we wouldn’t have done it, almost won games on his own that year even if he left me 2v1 a lot.

If you could have done anything differently in your career, what would it have been?
Nothing.
Do you have any future management aspirations?
Not at this moment but things change!
Some interesting answers! I would like to thank Adam for taking the time to answer them and wish him the best now that he has retired from playing.
