Norwich manager Alex Neil has revealed that he is planning a transfer strategy to keep the Canaries in the Premier League.
The Canaries struggled to get the right players in the summer transfer window, but Neil has said he is looking to rectify that when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Work started immediately after the last window closed. It never really stopped to be honest. We sat down after the window, I gathered my thoughts in terms of what we tried to do, what we managed to do, and where we see ourselves moving forward.
However, Norwich were able to bring English winger Matt Jarvis on loan from fellow Premier League side West Ham. The Norfolk outfit also signed Dieumerci Mbokani in the final hours of deadline day and both have had a positive impact on the Canaries’ season. Mbokani was one of the few bright sparks in the 6-2 thrashing by Newcastle United on the weekend.
Neil wants to bring players in as early as possible in January, so he has time to work with the players, but knows that it will be out of his control.
As a manager, I would love to bring in lads on January 1st and then have all that time to work with them. I would be delighted with that. The majority of the time when you are trying to get players from elsewhere, it is not in your control because they belong to someone else and ultimately that dictates what happens and when.
With Norwich currently sitting 16th in the Premier League, they will need to bring in better quality players in January in order for them to stay clear of the drop.
