According to reports from football-italia.net, long-term Norwich target Kalidou Koulibaly had supposedly held talks with the Canaries but they weren’t playing “at the same level” to his current side Napoli.
Throughout the summer transfer window, Koulibaly was one of several defenders touted with a move to Norwich but a move never happened for Koulibaly nor any other central defender. The centre back was reportedly put up for sale by the Serie A side but teams were put off the player because of their high asking price for the Frenchman.

Koulibaly’s agent Bruno Satin said “We spoke to Southampton, Norwich and Bayer Leverkusen” to which he followed by claiming “the lad was happy in Naples and didn’t want to take a step back in his career”.
Norwich failed to acquire the services of any central defenders this summer but there was interest in players, such as Koulibaly.
For now Norwich will have to make do in what appears to be the primary central pairing for the season in Russell Martin and Sebastien Bassong. With the transfer window now closed, Norwich will have to wait until January if they desperately need to improve in that area.
Norwich’s next game in the Premier League is against Liverpool on Sunday 20th September.
