Norwich City have officially completed the loan signing of Dieumerci Mbokani from Dynamo Kiev. The player flew in for a medical this morning and on the club’s official twitter page, the signing was confirmed.
Mbokani has been linked with a move to Carrow Road since the end of June but now with one day of the summer window left, Mbokani has officially joined the club.
The Congolese international was recognised for his time at Standard Liege in Belgium where he scored 39 goals in 87 games for the club. He joined Monaco in 2010 but never really impressed, and consequently returned to Belgium with Anderlecht. In 53 appearances, Mbokani scored 34 goals in 53 games in his two years at the club. Mbokani had a desire to play in the Premier League when his time at Anderlecht came to an end, but unfortunately he wasn’t given the chance and moved to Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine.

Mbokani has spent two seasons in Ukraine, scoring 16 goals for the Ukraine champions. This summer, Mbokani has been linked with a move away from Ukraine, and now a deal has been confirmed.

The deal sees the 29-year old finally get his chance in England, with Norwich City. The deal is only a season loan, but an impressive season with the Canaries could see Mbokani join permanently.
Norwich manager Alex Neil quoted this on the signing:
Dieumerci is going to give us competition at the top end of the pitch, and I think we’ve needed a bit of strengthening there.
He’s a big, strong number nine – he can take the ball in, he’s mobile and he’s a real threat in the box. We’re hoping all of these things come together for him.
He’s got a good track record and he’s played Champions League football, so I think it’s an exciting signing for us.
With the transfer window closing tomorrow evening, Norwich need to act quickly if they are to bring in any other names into the squad. It’ll certainly be a busy day tomorrow.
From everyone at Read Norwich, Welcome Dieumerci!
