Norwich City have turned to Celtic frontman Leigh Griffiths in the club’s search for a new striker, according to the Daily Mirror, with Alex Neil supposedly ready to use former Bhoys star Gary Hooper as a makeweight in the deal.
The speculation comes after City’s bid for prolific Wolves forward, Benik Afobe, was rejected and Griffiths’ brace for Celtic in their Champions League qualifier against Swedish team Malmo, as the Hoops won 3-2. Griffiths scored 20 goals last season for the Scottish champions, after joining in January 2014 following a torrid spell at Wolves, where he was loaned to Hibernian for the first 2 seasons of his contract.
Hooper has been linked with moves away from Carrow Road throughout the summer, despite telling statements from manager Alex Neil, clearly indicating that no bids have been received for his forward who scored 63 goals at Celtic. If Alex Neil is to be believed, then any touted move for Hooper appears unlikely.
However, recent reports suggest that Hooper could head back to his former club in order to land the Scottish champions’ top striker.
