In the last hour, Norwich’s official site have reported that Jacob Murphy will spend the entire 2015/2016 campaign at League 1 outfit Coventry City. This comes just after the news that Jacob and his brother have signed a new long-term contract at the club.
Murphy has come through the youth system at the club and played a key part in the youth side that won the FA Youth Cup in the 2012/2013 season. During that season, Murphy made his first professional appearance for the squad.
The 20-year old has enjoyed most of his professional career on loan at several lower league clubs, including Southend, Blackpool and Scunthorpe. Murphy was loaned out to Colchester for the a period of the 14/15 season and helped the League 1 side avoid relegation, where he scored 4 crucial goals in 11 appearances for the U’s.
Earlier today, along with his brother, Murphy signed a new contract at Norwich. The talent has now dedicated his future to the Canaries, the club he’s started his career at.
Coventry, finished in a disappointing 17th last season in League 1 however started their season with a 2-0 win over Wigan last Saturday. Jacob could make his first appearance for the Sky Blues tomorrow against Millwall. A good move for the youngster?
