The end is near in the Robbie Brady transfer saga—potentially.
After Hull manager Steve Bruce laughed off Norwich’s first three bids as ‘embarrassing,’ the Canaries have responded with a £6 million bid for the Republic of Ireland international, according to HITC Sport.
Technically this is the Premier League side’s fifth attempt—yet probably wont be the last—with Bruce wanting an estimate of £8 million for the winger.
Perhaps this appears to be an inflated price. In this instance, it might actually be, but it’s more of a personal statement from Bruce than an act of diplomacy.
It’s apparent Norwich manager Alex Neil wants to bring Brady to Carrow Road. He’s said as much in recent interviews. For this reason, a rejected bid would be no surprise from the Tigers, who are holding out to maximise a return on the 23-year-old.
This time last July Hull purchased Norwich midfielder Robert Snodgrass for a club record fee of around £6 million. In return, the Scotland international played 39 minutes against Queens Park Rangers before getting subbed off after dislocating a knee cap. It was his lone appearance.
Not to say Bruce wants the same fate to be reversed, but he doesn’t want to give away one of his Championship side’s premier talents at a low fee.
In the end, a fee should be agreed. At this point, it’s just a matter of when.
