Norwich dismantled an inevitably inferior Gorleston 7-0 in this preseason friendly at Emerald Park.
After only 5 minutes, Norwich’s rout began with Cameron Jerome’s far post tap-in from a square ball by Graham Dorrans. On the 10 minute mark, Jerome scored his second with a marvellous volley from twenty-five yards into the top corner.

Josh Murphy missed a sitter as he blazed an attempted lob over the crossbar and out of the stadium. With 25 minutes gone, Tony Andreu scored a well placed finish into the bottom corner through a crowded penalty area. At the half-hour mark, Jerome completed his hat-trick by poking a long ball round the keeper before slotting into the bottom right corner.
City’s fifth came from a classy lob by Vadis Odidja Ofoe, knocking the ball over the goalkeeper from 12 yards out.
After half time, with a fully changed XI, Norwich’s dominance continued. The Greens, who finished 12th in the Thurlow Nunn premier division last season, provided little resistance as Norwich continued to run riot.

Second half team (Blank represents Johnny Howson)
In the 72nd minute, an easy tap-in for Lewis Grabban made it 6, and 3 minutes later, a nice finish by Jonny Howson was the 7th.
In their last game against Norwich, in 2008, Gorleston were defeated 8-1 by a Norwich team that would go on to be relegated from the Championship.
Michael Turner’s header down against the post provided the final real chance of the afternoon for Norwich with Gorleston failing to register a shot all game. This combination of first team, youth and reserve players has shown that a good squad depth from Norwich may prove pivotal in the Premier league, should any key players be injured.
Norwich’s next test is away to Hitchin Town on the 15th July.
